After Such Knowledge, What Forgiveness? 2021

From March 2016, a warning about this time:

Today, we think a bit on the Sorrowful Mysteries of Our Lady’s Rosary. Now these Mysteries are nothing new. They occurred over 2,000 years ago, and in fact, are with us still. He still prays in anguish for us, knowing that we, His own, betray Him. Only now, instead of in an olive grove, He abides in abandoned tabernacles, ignored even by His own who are consecrated to Him. The blows of His scourging resound through the millennia. Attend with your heart!

No? You cannot perceive it? Kneel then with Mary, Queen of the Sorrowful Mysteries. Ask her to help you, not for you  to see this vision, but to know it with her mind and heart. When once you know, really know in your inmost being, these awful blows upon His innocent back, on His poor shoulders, you will always feel, never not feel them reverberating through your deepest being, with every blasphemy against Him, with every attack on His Sacrament of Love, every sneer at Him or most especially at His beloved Mother.

THE WAY

Reader, please hear me! You must enter this way. You must now, do not delay. The fact that very few will read this is all the more of a responsibility for those who do! Why are you here? What did you expect? Think now, after 2,000 years of His Passion, of His loving reparation, what have we done? What response from us? What are you doing? You cannot, absolutely cannot serve Him now unless you are united with Mary, heart of her Immaculate Heart, mind completely united with her mind, which is always in union with Him.

There is nothing left to us but this Passion and Death. It can only be accomplished through Mary with her children. If we fail to grasp this, fail to act on it, there will be no forgiveness. We have this knowledge and with it comes this Cross.

The Sorrowful Mysteries are essential now. Do not try to visualize them on your own, as people who have been too long immersed in videos do. If you ask Our Lady, she will enlighten your heart and your mind, and you will know these mysteries. That must be your goal. Now the first three Sorrowful are about Reparation for concupiscence* of the eyes, concupiscence of the flesh and the pride of life, and once you enter fully into their meaning, you may pass on to the last two which are your own Way of the Cross. You must accompany the Lord and His Holy Mother on this way. It is the only way.

Many ask me for a key to meditation on these Mysteries. This is all: Only with Mary, she alone shared every moment of His Passion with Him, uniting her will with His, adoring Him for us. Only she can take you there, to the Garden, and on the rocky path to the Place of the Skull.  She will share with you her sorrow as she held Him, once His life had ebbed away, indeed, she holds you now, with Him. Trust her! We cannot do one thing worthwhile except with her. This is everything. Trust Mary.

Soon, it will be too late. Trust Mary. Now.

* For all that is in the world, is the concupiscence of the flesh, and the concupiscence of the eyes, and the pride of life, which is not of the Father, but is of the world. (1 John 2, 16)

Update December 2021: Some email me with concerns about the advancing techno-tyranny, “you must see this”, they say, over the latest assault on our freedoms, on our souls, actually. But yet, they ignore the beautiful blessings we are given in this time. Dear readers, what more could we ask? For Jesus and Mary have given us their Hearts! Truly, what else can we want? Tell me – what more can Our Dear Lord do? He has given us His most Sacred Heart and then, when most of mankind spurned this great gift, He gave us His own dear Mother, who offers us her Immaculate (thus invincible) Heart to lead us safely through this darkening time into the safety of His Heart. There you have it – shelter in the storm, safety from satan. All God asks is our loving Consecration to their Sacred Hearts. For those who will listen, there is all of Heaven to gain. For those who persist in seeking material remedies drawn from their own prideful actions, what shall be their reward? Rather, what forgiveness?

Remember – Our Lady needs us to obey:  First Saturdays of Reparation, daily rosary, at least 5 mysteries, wear her brown scapular and live your Total Consecration to her Immaculate Heart, offering daily duties in reparation and for the conversion of poor sinners.

.  Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of our hearts, Mother of the Church, do thou offer to the Eternal Father the Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, for the conversion of poor sinners, especially our Pontiff.

. O Virgin Most Sorrowful, Mother of Mercy, intercede for us now and at the hour of our death.

. Most Precious Blood of Jesus, save us! Save our priests!

. St. Joseph, protect us, protect our families, protect our church.

~ by evensong for love of the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, King.
Vouchsafe that I may praise thee, O Sacred Virgin! Give me strength against thine enemies!

Fatima – the Chastisement of Impurity, 2021

“Father, the devil is in the mood for engaging in a decisive battle
against the Blessed Virgin.”

(Sister Lucia of Fatima, 1957)

In her last interview with Father Agustin Fuentes, December 26, 1957, Sister Lucia of Fatima, perhaps aware that she was about to be silenced by the Vatican, warned us all,

“Father, the devil is in the mood for engaging in a decisive battle against the Blessed Virgin. And the devil knows what it is that most offends God and which in a short space of time will gain for him the greatest number of souls. Thus, the devil does everything to overcome souls consecrated to God, because in this way, the devil will succeed in leaving souls of the faithful abandoned by their leaders, thereby the more easily will he seize them.

“That which afflicts the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Heart of Jesus is the fall of religious and priestly souls. The devil knows that religious and priests who fall away from their beautiful vocation drag innumerable souls to Hell … The devil wishes to take possession of consecrated souls. He tries to corrupt them in order to lull to sleep the souls of laypeople and thereby lead them to final impenitence.” (Sister Lucia of Fatima to Father Agustin Fuentes, December, 1957)

October 13, 1917, the Message and the Promise

Today, we offer Part II of today’s post on Our Lady of the Rosary’s Sixth Appearance at Fatima in 1917.

In October, 1917,  Heaven came to earth.
Here is the Message and the Promise for us today.

Today  we mark the 104th  anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun during Our Lady’s Sixth Visit to Fatima.  In this brief review we’ll recap the historical event considering three aspects, the words of Our Lady, the Visions seen by the children and then the Miracle of the Sun witnessed by the spectators.

THE MESSAGE

On this sixth and last visit, Our Lady’s words to Jacinta, Francisco and Lúcia were, “I want a chapel to be built here in my honor. I am Our Lady of the Rosary. Continue to say the Rosary every day. …. People must amend their lives and ask pardon for their sins.” Then, growing sadder, “They must not offend Our Lord any more for He is already too much offended.”

“I want a chapel to be built in my honor”

This refers back to the visit of June 13 when Our Lady told Lúcia, “Jesus wishes to make use of you to make me known and loved. He wants to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart. I promise salvation to those who embrace it …” In this, she states clearly that it is Jesus Christ Our Lord who wants to establish devotion to her Immaculate Heart. Note the word, “establish”:  For it is only by the authority of the Vicar of Christ that devotions are “established”.  Thus, Our Lady and Our Lord ask for the obedience of the Pope. She is asking the Holy Father to lead his flock to devotion to her Immaculate Heart as a sure remedy in the coming trials.

At this point, you might ask, “Why was this not done?”

OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY

“I am Our Lady of the Rosary. Continue to say the Rosary every day.”

By identifying herself as Our Lady of the Rosary, the Blessed Virgin affirms that she is truly “our” Mother as indicated by Our Lord Himself in His crucifixion, and, she indicates her intention to do as she has done before, conquer heresy and drive it out by means of her Rosary. As with the Albigenses, who disdained her and predictably disdained life as well, so it will be with the modernists who infest the Holy Church now.  As it was at Lepanto, so it will be soon, those who seek to destroy Christian civilization will be vanquished. We have her word on this!

PRAY THE ROSARY EVERY DAY

At every visit, from May 13 onwards, Our Lady stressed the necessity of the daily Rosary.  She did not spend time on pleasantries, did not thank the children for being there (as in false apparitions), did not even get into the finer details of how we are to pray the Rosary. Simply, Pray the Rosary every day! Therefore, we conclude that it is impossible to  comply with Our Lady’s Message if we fail this small but essential step. When people tell me, “I am not interested in the Rosary”, I try to help them see that this is the reason they absolutely must pray the Rosary! Our Lady told Blessed Alan de la Roche, “Know, my son, that a probable and proximate sign of eternal damnation is aversion for, lukewarmness and carelessness in saying the Angelic Salutation…”  Distaste for her Rosary is an indication of danger, a warning that a soul is drifting from the true path.

REPENT YOUR SINS AND MAKE REPARATION

The Message of Fatima is clear on  this point: God’s justice is deeply offended by our sins. While He is infinitely merciful to those who sincerely repent, His Justice demands that His children confess their sins and repent them.  It is a great tragedy that those deepest in sin lose their awareness of their plight. They become so inured in their sins that they are unable to repent,  and thus, the most Merciful Virgin calls to us, her children to pray the Rosary and offer reparation, beseeching  her Divine Son,  Who will come to be ourJudge, to grant us the graces to repent our sins.  We must do this!

Our Lady’s request for the First Saturdays of Reparation and for the Consecration of Russia are logically included in this repentance and reparation. For when we have strayed, the remedy is always by way of humble and contrite obedience. I tell you, we will not get the humble, contrite and obedient Pope and Bishops we need until we ourselves become humble, contrite and obedient by adhering to the Message of Fatima!

DO NOT OFFEND OUR LORD ANY MORE!

In this visit, Our Lady’s parting words were, “They must not offend Our Lord any more for He is already too much offended.”

In her Memoirs,  Sister Lúcia recounted,  “The words most deeply engraved upon my heart are those of the request made by our Heavenly Mother: ‘Do not offend Our Lord and God any more, for He is already so much offended’. How loving a complaint, how tender a request! Who will grant me to make it echo through the whole world, so that all the children of Our Mother in Heaven may hear the sound of Her voice! “(Frère Michel de la Sainte Trinité, “The Whole Truth about Fatima – Vol I”).

Our Lady’s final words on this visit bear repeating: “They must not offend Our Lord any more for He is already too much offended.”  Almost immediately after this Sixth Visit, just as Our Lady predicted, Russia did fall to satanic control by way of the marxist revolution. Because the Popes had become worldly, they did not fight this danger with the spiritual means they had been given, but chose to respond with worldly measures, thus fighting fire with gasoline. Never a very helpful measure! And so, from the time of Pope Pius XI on,  the spiritual darkness of the Vatican increased, by small measures at first but accelerating  more and more, until the avalanche set off by Pope John XXIII’s shocking disobedience.

Although we say “shocking” now, at the time, Pope John’s refusal to obey the Blessed Mother was little noted and did not bring about any criticism. The only effect it had was to accelerate the suppression of the message.  I was a young adult at the time and can verify that most people, myself included began to take less interest in Fatima. For if the “Holy Father” does not think it appropriate for our needs, then it must not be good to pursue it, or so the general impression went.

And so, the spoken Message of this Sixth Visit was to re-emphasise  the absolute necessity of devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Our Lady of the Rosary,  the requirement for at a minimum, five decades of the Rosary a day, combined with heartfelt desire to amend our lives, to make reparation for sins, and to seek the conversion of sinners.

If this portion of Our Lady’s request had been heeded, especially by the Pope who was informed of Our Lady’s words at this visit, that is, if the Pope (at this time the elderly Benedict XV and then Pius XI) had taken this up and begun the institution of Devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary as Our Lady asked for, the rest of Our Lady’s Message, that is, the three-part Secret, would have easily been  accepted. As  we look back at the very beginnings of the Church’s response to Our Lady at Fatima, we see that the seeds of dissent were there almost from the start.

THE VISION SEEN BY THE CHILDREN

In her Fourth memoir, Sister Lúcia recounted, “We beheld St. Joseph with the Child Jesus and Our Lady robed in white with a blue mantle, beside the sun. St. Joseph and the Child Jesus appeared to bless the world, for they traced the Sign of the Cross with their hands.” “When, a little later, this apparition disappeared, I saw Our Lord and Our Lady; it seemed to me that it was Our Lady of Sorrows. Our Lord appeared to bless the world in the same manner as St. Joseph had done.” “This apparition also vanished, and I saw Our Lady once more, this time resembling Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.” (Sister Maria Lúcia of the Immaculate Heart. Fatima in Lúcia’s Own Words: The Memoirs of Sister Lúcia, the Last Fatima Visionary,  KIC. Kindle Edition).

In this quick series of visions, we see again the emphasis on the Rosary. The first stage of the vision shows the Holy Family and represents the Joyful Mysteries. In the second stage, we see Our Lord and Our Lady portrayed as Our Lady of Sorrows. This vision represents the Sorrowful Mysteries and emphasises  Our Lady’s role in these mysteries.  This is essential and we will discuss this more thoroughly soon. The last stage of the children’s vision represents the Glorious Mysteries, with Our Lady robed in the habit of Carmel and extending a brown scapular to them. To any faithful child of Mary, it is clearly a request for us to take up the scapular, her “little habit” in order to save our souls.

After this Sixth Visit, the children took up the requests of Our Lady in this vision: Francisco specialised in the consoling, contemplative path, Jacinta took the Apostolate of self-sacrifice, applying her sufferings joyfully to save sinners from hell, as had the Little Flower of Carmel, St. Therese, before her. While Lúcia herself took both parts, entering Carmel, consoling Our Lord, and offering adoration while suffering greatly for love of the Sacred Hearts and the salvation of souls. We have been prevented from knowing the richness of her beautiful life by the ancient enemy which for the moment controls the narrative, but if you are attentive in your rosary, it is possible to learn much. We do well to invite St. Lúcia into our devotions, for she loves to teach.

THE GREAT MIRACLE OF THE SUN

As Our Lady took leave of the children and rose, she spread her hands, which emitted brilliant rays of light. As she pointed towards the sun, the light from her hands brightened the very sun itself. At this precise moment, the crowds gathered there were astonished to see the dark clouds dispersed and the sky clear. And then the sun, which appeared as a brightly polished mother of pearl disc, began to spin, zig-zag and throw off brilliant flashes of light, blue and violet and golden yellow. Then it suddenly began hurtling towards the earth, while the crowds screamed and fell to their knees in  terror. Just as suddenly as it started, it was over and the sun resumed its place. As people sighed with relief and thanked God, all were amazed that the muddy field was dry and their own shoes and clothes were dry and clean.

THE SUN OBEYS THE MOTHER OF GOD, BUT THE POPE WILL NOT OBEY!

By her stunning Miracle of the Sun, Our Lady of the Rosary  graciously provided our weak and doubtful natures a clear and vivid proof of her power over the forces of nature.  In this astounding feat, she proved that she is more brilliant than the sun and that the sun obeys her will.

The lesson for our day is even more astounding, but was not much noted at the time. The field of the Cova had been ploughed and then had gotten utterly drenched in a steady downpour. Thousands of people and their horses and donkeys had packed into it, sinking into the ankle-deep mud. Everyone was literally soaked to the bone and their shoes and clothes caked with the mire. it was not possible to be in that place, at that time and not become befouled by the mud of the pasture mixed with the filth of animal waste.

Yet after Our Lady’s Miracle, the multitudes found themselves and the muddy Cova now dry, with no mud on them.

THE SUN, A FIGURE OF THE CHURCH

In prophecy, the sun is a figure of the Church. The sun, like the Church is something we were accustomed to as a certainty, unfailingly dependable. In the Fatima miracle, the sun began exhibiting all the colors of the rainbow. Now, the rainbow is a Divine sign, given to us by a loving Father. Yet today this beautiful sign – the rainbow – has been co-opted by  the forces of satan to corrupt the Church, thus offending God even more. When Our Lady performed this stunning miracle, she was affirming her control over these pernicious forces. She knew that the significance of the rainbow colors would be overlooked by Catholics at that time, but it is obviously a sign to us as we watch the ilk of Danneels prance about in their rainbow vestments while they seek to entrench their perversions in the practice of the faith.

The sun, always so dependable, like the stalwart, trustworthy Church, suddenly broke free of its moorings and hurtled towards the crowd. Even faithless unbelievers who had come to scoff, were heard praying devoutly at that terrifying moment. That was a very clear warning that the Church, once secure in the faith, would become unmoored if it disobeyed the Queen of Heaven.

Prophecies and visions are rarely understood at the time they occur, but become clearer at the appropriate time.  As we see, the time for this prophecy is upon us.

The Immaculata, Mother of Mercy, spared the crowd and in the flash of an instant, restored the sun and eradicated all of the mud and filth. And she stands ready now to remedy all the errors that plague the Church. She alone can restore the Church to its rightful place and cast the filth from the Church, restoring all things in Christ, the King.

UPDATE: October 13, 2021: Satan, the Ancient Enemy continues his war against Jesus Christ, His Holy Church and the Virgin Mother of Christ, the Immaculata. Most recently, Pope Francis issued his brutal abrogation of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass on the Feast Day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, thus assaulting the Holy Mother of God, and a portion of her Message at Fatima, wherein she recommends devotion to her Brown Scapular including Total Consecration. And then, on the Feast Day of 7th of October, 2021, he celebrated not Our Lady of the Rosary/Our Lady of Victory, but John Paul II’s false ecumenism gathering at Assisi. And he did this in Rome’s Coliseum, thus desecrating the thousands of Catholic martyrs on that site.

Remember – Our Lady needs us to obey:  First Saturdays of Reparation, daily rosary, at least 5 mysteries, wear her brown scapular and live your Total Consecration to her Immaculate Heart, offering daily duties in reparation and for the conversion of poor sinners.

Open your hearts to the Lord and serve Him only: and He will free you from the hands of your enemies. With all your heart return to Him, and take away from your midst any strange gods” (I Kings 7:3)

†  Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of our hearts, Mother of the Church, do thou offer to the Eternal Father the Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, for the conversion of poor sinners, especially our Pontiff.

Sixth Visit of Our Lady of the Rosary, October 13, 1917

Today is the 104th anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun that marked Our Lady’s Sixth Visit to Fatima. it is also the 48th anniversary of Our Lady’s visit to Akita (13 October, 1973). Akita’s message seems primarily to emphasize the warnings of Fatima, but it too, failed or rather the Church failed to heed it.

On October 13, 1917, a miracle occurred, witnessed by between 70,000 and 100,000 people. The miracle defied the laws of physics and was verified by witnesses who were Masons, atheists and anti-Christians as well as by the faithful. The day, month and hour had been predicted before hand.

When Our Lady appeared to the children, Jacinta, Francisco and Lucia at this Sixth Apparition, her final words to them were,

“…I am Our Lady of the Rosary. Continue to say the Rosary every day. …. People must amend their lives and ask pardon for their sins. Then, growing sadder, “They must not offend Our Lord any more for He is already too much offended.”

This is a vivid and clear visual lesson in the power which God grants to His beloved Mary. She gave brightness to the sun, she commanded the sun and it obeyed her. The additional miracle of the entire Cova and all the multitudes instantly becoming dried and clean in a mere 15 minutes is just as unexplainable a miracle. There is a message here which we will return to in next post.

Now, let’s consider the message of our Lady’s words to the children. The first point we notice is the emphasis on the Rosary; as she had promised, she told them her name: Our Lady of the Rosary, Then she urged them to pray the Rosary daily. There is a very important message here, to which we will return shortly. Next, “People must amend their lives and ask pardon for their sins.”  Compare this message of amending our lives, begging God for pardon for our sins and stop offending Him, compare this to the constant message of our Merciful® Pontiff, welcoming all sinners, “meeting them where they are” and  accompanying them, dialoging endlessly. Recently one of the Synod leaders proclaimed that they are eliminating the distinction between sin and the sinner. This is modernese for abolishing the concept of sin, ergo, no need to repent, no need to amend our lives.

So what do you think? After 104 years, how do we stand on obeying this Woman clothed with the Sun, who commands the sun and the forces of nature and they obey her? And what are the consequences?

AKITA, A STERN WARNING

On October 13, 1973, 56 years after that 1917 visit and 13 years after Our Lady’s 1960 deadline had passed without obedience, Our Lady appeared again. It was a subtler, but sterner message, no spectacular solar events, just blood, sweat and tears, symbols of suffering, and a dire warning:

“if men do not repent and better themselves, the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity. It will be a punishment greater than the deluge, such as one will never have seen before. Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful. The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead. The only arms which will remain for you will be the Rosary and the Sign left by my Son. Each day recite the prayers of the Rosary. With the Rosary, pray for the Pope, the bishops and the priests.”

“The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, bishops against other bishops. The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed by their confreres (other priests). Churches and altars will be sacked. The Church will be full of those who accept compromises and the demon will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord.”

“The demon will be especially implacable against the souls consecrated to God. The thought of the loss of so many souls is the cause of my sadness. If sins increase in number and gravity, there will be no longer pardon for them.”

“. . . Pray very much the prayers of the Rosary. I alone am able still to save you from the calamities which approach. Those who place their confidence in me will be saved.“

Well, that was in 1973 and much has changed in these 47 years hasn’t it? It is all too clear that the faithful have not repented and the only changes have been for the worse. How many prelates have gone through the world, rallying Catholics to the message of Fatima?

Did John Paul II warn those gathered in Assisi or the crowds who thronged to greet him everywhere he went, “Repent, stop offending God, do penance, make reparation, or you will all go down to hell!”? No, he did not even pray the Fatima decade prayer.

He could have issued a Moto Proprio instituting the First Saturdays as specially indulgenced days when offered as Our Lady requested. Nope, he didn’t do that either. Did Pope Benedict, who said that Akita was essentially the same as Fatima, command Catholics to perform the Reparation ordered by either of those two appearances?

Why not? Why has no pope done even a modicum of what Our Lady asked for?

Part II will address those questions and explore the meanings of the symbols. We’ll look at the messages within the context of the Synod and the ongoing revolution in the Church today. It’s clear that the time allotted to us to repent and amend our lives is nearly up. Let us make good use of the present time, for the darkness comes.

Remember – Our Lady needs us to obey:  First Saturdays of Reparation, daily rosary, at least 5 mysteries, wear her brown scapular and live your Total Consecration to her Immaculate Heart, offering daily duties in reparation and for the conversion of poor sinners.

†  Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of our hearts, Mother of the Church, do thou offer to the Eternal Father the Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, for the conversion of poor sinners, especially our Pontiff.

The Last Remedy

“Our Lord Jesus Christ has always defended the honor of His Mother.”

Last Remedy

“God is giving two last remedies to the world. These are the Holy Rosary and devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. … there will be no others. …if you despise and repulse this ultimate means, we will not have any more forgiveness from Heaven, because we will have committed a sin which the Gospel calls the sin against the Holy Ghost. This sin consists of openly rejecting, with full knowledge and consent, the salvation which He offers.”

You ask, “How is that a sin against the Holy Ghost?” It is because the Blessed Virgin is the spouse of the Holy Ghost, and He loves her infinitely as does God the Son and God the Father. Jesus was born of Mary and became Man that He might redeem mankind. And yet He gave the first thirty years of His life solely to Mary and only the last three years to mankind. Sacred Scripture reveals that Mary is full of grace, in other words, she can never deceive us – when she says that the Rosary and devotion to her Immaculate Heart are necessary, she is speaking God’s will, not her own.

Again, it is God’s will that we do these things. The Blessed Virgin Mary is telling us that God wills that we pray the Rosary daily and pray it well, and that we use this rosary in our spiritual combat, that is, pray it in Rosary Rallies publicly and out loud. A Rosary Rally at which the Rosary is not prayed openly is not a Rosary Rally. To obey Our Lady’s request for the devotion of her Rosary, we must pray her Rosary, that is, the Rosary in effect at the time of her request; not John Paul II’s Rosary, not the Divine Mercy or any substitute or “improvement” on the Rosary she asked for.

Additionally, the Rosary should be prayed before every Mass, in front of the most Blessed Sacrament and out loud in every Catholic church. It should be accompanied by prayers for the Catholic intentions of the Pope. Refer to the words of the shepherds of Fatima for the importance of this. To ignore this requirement robs us of the plenary indulgence in addition to being an affront to God.

Please note well: The Rosary before Mass will bring many necessary graces – it is a great shame to show indifference to such a blessing. In these times, we must not spurn the sources of grace!

Non-Negotiable Devotion to the Immaculata

Devotion to her Immaculate Heart is also non-negotiable. In this devotion, the Son of God, Jesus Christ requests that we love and cherish His Mother in order to love Him as she loves and serves Him. But today’s leading Catholic intellectuals appear blinded by their own brilliance, and cannot grasp the importance. So here it is again:

Devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary requires, in addition to her Rosary:

  • Consecration to Jesus through her Immaculate Heart. See St. Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort or St. Maximilian Kolbe.
  • Her brown scapular of Mount Carmel
  • Miraculous medal is highly recommended.
  • Establishment of First Saturdays of Reparation to her Immaculate Heart in every parish, everywhere.
  • The Consecration of Russia, specifically, publicly and in union with the Bishops of the world.
  • To prepare for this, every Bishop should consecrate his diocese to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
  • All faithful, but particularly priests and bishops, must spread the full message of Fatima, including the need for the Consecration of Russia by the Pope and Bishops – all Bishops must request their brothers to unite to petition the Pope to perform this necessary act.
  • Family Consecration and Enthronement.

If even just half of the efforts of the Masters of the Catholic blogosphere were devoted to the above requests of Our Lady of Fatima instead of to Abp. Vigano and Trump, what do you think would happen?

For a start, these people would be generously blessed by Our Lady. They would be serving God! Saving their souls and those of so many others! That is the best result of all. In addition:

Priests who establish the First Saturdays of Reparation in their parishes would see many conversions, reversions and intense spiritual growth both personally and in their parish. This would require the priest live the example of his devotion, not simply allow it.

Every Bishop’s Responsibility

Bishops who establish the devotion of First Saturdays in their dioceses, would see a steady increase in attendance at Mass, greater devotion, floods of grace, both personally and in their diocese. But establishing this devotion would require the Bishop to actually be the Shepherd of his flock; he should offer the Holy Sacrifice on First Saturday, rotating through every church of his diocese, explaining the devotion in sermons and written materials. It requires his personal efforts and cannot be delegated.

Small but spiritually rich Rosary Rallies would inflame the hearts of Catholics, and restore their love for the faith.

In every church where the Rosary is recited correctly, devoutly, before Mass, the Mass is richer and more fruitful.

It’s sad to see the faithful Catholics so distracted from the necessity of total devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. So much talk on issues that do nothing to help save souls.

Regarding interest in the liturgy and canon law: If only experts could include reparative devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary! Such devotion does not detract from the message, it intensifies and fructifies the liturgy. God in His providence willed that Jesus come to us through Mary; she is the very best teacher of the worship of her Divine Son. If each of these experts were to become true devotees of Our Lady of the Rosary and her Fatima message, they would be more effective and save souls!

Once more with feeling:

Mary was not making a personal request at Fatima. She was revealing to the faithful what God Himself demands of us. Indifference to this is not an option. Indifference to the command of God is again, not an option.

The disobedience of the Popes, which began with Pius XI – began the chastisement which has been mostly spiritual – resulting in the loss of many souls.

The spiritual chastisement was ignored by most, clerics and laity, as long as possible and this indifference has caused the loss of many, many souls, it has accelerated the ebbing of grace from the world, and made the coming material chastisement inevitable and assured that it will be horrifying, “with the survivors envying the dead.”

There will truly be plague, famine and universal war on a very personal level.

Listen to Our Lord as He spoke from the Cross – He gave you His Mother. He gave her to you because He loves you so much! He knows that she, of all creatures knows Him best and is best able to teach you how to know Him, to love Him and to serve Him faithfully. In times like these, with satan so powerful and all of hell seeking your fragile little soul, she is the one chosen by God to save you and those you love.

Please do not be so foolish as to spurn her! Although the way ahead for all of us is harder than any other time in history, we have her promise, Don’t lose heart. I will never forsake you. My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the way that will lead you to God.”

We are so blessed that Our Lord loves us so much that He entrusts His Mother to us and entrusts us also with this task right now – to save souls who are so deeply in sin they are like sleepwalkers stumbling towards a precipice. Don’t waste time on foolish pursuits, much less on assigning blame, let us do the work before us!

REPENT. OBEY. HUMBLE YOURSELF.

This includes accepting all that “rubs us the wrong way”, for that is how we are polished and made new in Our Lord Jesus Christ. Our Blessed Mother will teach us and we must be eager pupils for we have a rendezvous with heaven!

But I have wandered in my thoughts again. To return to the remedy:

For priests and Bishops, there is nothing more urgent than to obey the full message of Fatima:

✝︎  Establish, to the fullest extent possible, devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, by First Saturdays of Reparation and by the Rosary, privately in homes, before the Blessed Sacrament, and whenever possible in public.

✝︎  Public rosaries are extremely important. Spread information about the need for these devotions and for the Pope and Bishops to perform the Consecration of Russia and our need to support this effort by prayer and penance.

✝︎  Now here is the clincher, the bigger your platform, the more accountable you are to God. You may come face to face for your private judgement sooner than you think. Will you really be proud to tell Our Lord Jesus how you spent your time, how you used the graces He has blessed you with?  Again, what did you do for Mary? He gave her to be your Mother as He was dying, she awaits us now at the Cross. It is not too late!

There is much more to tell you, but it is very late now. And I too, have wasted my resources.

When I began, I thought all that was needed was to make Catholics aware of the true message of Fatima, and of course, Catholics would flock to Our Mother, eager to pray her true Rosary with renewed devotion, happy to pray the Fatima Decade Prayer which is such a beautiful prayer straight from Our Lady herself and filled with her maternal solicitude for her erring children. I was certain that once I pointed it out, others with better skills (and lacking my limitations) would lead the faithful to rally with public rosaries, and use their respected positions to press Bishops to establish First Saturdays in their dioceses; that Bishops would not only establish First Saturdays but would actually visit each of their churches for First Saturdays of Reparation, teaching the faithful the importance of the devotion, emphasizing the need for penance, and praying the Rosary.

What a silly old woman I am.

And now, we are running out of time. I will leave this post up a while in case someone may see it and decide to risk all and take up the task. Meanwhile, for those who may have missed their Consecrations, we offer the following in hopes you’ll be inspired to make your Consecration and share with others. This is the short one:

Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, in the presence of all the heavenly court, I choose you this day for my Mother and Queen. I deliver and consecrate to you, and to your Immaculate Heart, as your loving child, my body and soul, my will and all my good actions, past, present and future; leaving to you the entire and full right of disposing of me, and all that belongs to me, without exception, according to your good pleasure, for the triumph of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and of your Immaculate Heart now and forever.

I renew today in your heart, O Immaculate Mother, the vows of my Baptism; I renounce forever the evil one, his pomps and works; I renounce my own pride and willfulness and I give myself entirely to Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Wisdom, to carry my cross after Him all the days of my life, and to be more faithful to Him than I have ever been before. Amen.

We must never forget this:

Don’t lose heart. I will never forsake you.
My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the way that will lead you to God.”

“O my Jesus, forgive us our sins and save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of Thy mercy.” (The Decade Prayer of Our Lady of the Rosary at Fatima. 1917)

Remember – Our Lady needs us to obey: First Saturdays of Reparation, daily rosary, at least 5 mysteries, wear her brown scapular and live our Total Consecration to her Immaculate Heart, offering our daily duties in reparation and for the conversion of poor sinners.

† Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thy kingdom come! Viva Cristo Rey!
† St. Joseph, protect us, protect our families, protect our priests.
† St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.

The Rosary: A Catechism of Mary, 2020

And thus also it was that the knot of Eve’s disobedience
was loosed
by the obedience of Mary.
For what the virgin Eve had bound fast through unbelief,
this did the virgin Mary set free through faith”
(St. Augustine)

Disobedience

Among the many errors ravaging the Church today is certain independence of thought, a disobedience, a refusal of faith, echoing Lucifer’s “Non serviam”, descending in Eve’s bloodline, which in turn carried throughout time the vast flood of sins of mankind. But with the betrayal of Judas, this tide of disobedience, this refusal of faith, reached a new level, for Judas betrayed our Lord Jesus Christ from within His closest friends, with a kiss, the sign of intimacy. It is this betrayal of the intimate love of Jesus, this rejection of His love, of His grace, that characterizes this Judas papacy and its poisonous fruit.

Now please note this! Our Lord chose to remedy Eve’s disobedience by the pure and humble obedience of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is her loving “Fiat” which welcomes the Incarnation. Thus we see that disobedience, the original sin, is remedied by obedience. And that is the Rosary’s first lesson.

In an earlier post, from 2017, Obedience, the Rosary and the Passion of the Church, we cited St. Augustine and St. John Bosco that the key to disobedience is the refusal of Faith. In the present instance, the current Pan-Amazon Synod exemplifies this refusal of Faith, eclipsing the true faith with a false neo-paganism, which is but a shabby veil behind which the same old satanic marxism lurks. In whatever guise, it is a betrayal of Christ, a Judas-kiss from those who are consecrated to His service.

Now then, what are we to do to counteract this scandalous disobedience? Our Lady, Mother of the Church, has told us what we must do, beginning with praying her Holy Rosary every day. And this is because the Rosary is her way of teaching us. She leads us to Jesus, and she teaches us how best to serve Him, but most of all, how to love Him with her most pure and faithful Heart.

Appropriate here, Rorate  recently posted for Our Lady of the Rosary – a Sermon from Fongombault, “There is one presence that remains, that of Mary“.

“Two words sum up Mary’s calling: Fiat, and Magnificat. We have to say and live them again and again. Fiat, this is a total, radical, uncompromising yes to God’s plan: let His word be done in me, be received and fruitful in me.”

That is a lovely way of reminding us that Mary’s loving acceptance of God’s will was the beginning of our salvation, the means by which Jesus, our loving Savior chose to become Man and to save us from our sins. Thus, it is fitting that our Blessed Mother chooses to begin our Rosary with the first lesson, obedience.

Obedience and the Joyful Mysteries

As we pray the rosary, meditate on Mary’s obedience as shown in her humble acceptance of God’s will at the Annunciation. Her generous obedience enabled the Incarnation, which in turn made possible Our Savior’s obedience even unto death on a cross, that we may be freed from sin. In the Second Joyful, Mary’s obedient visit to Elizabeth allowed the Christ Child to sanctify St. John the Baptist while he was yet within his mother’s womb. The Visitation shows that obedient love of God, allowing ourselves to be filled with His love, totally surrendering our wills to Him, overflows naturally to love and service to our neighbor.

The Nativity exemplifies the obedience of the Holy Family; by obeying the civil law to go to Bethlehem, Joseph and Mary also fulfilled the prophecy that Jesus would be born there. The Holy Family’s poverty models for us humble obedience manifesting itself as spiritual poverty, which yields space to God Our Father to provide for our true needs.

In the Presentation, we consider how Jesus, the Son of the Father, all pure, all perfect, yet accepted the ritual of offering the firstborn son in obedience to the Mosaic Law. And in the last Joyful Mystery, we see how Jesus, after reminding Mary and Joseph that He “must be about My Father’s business” (Luke 2, 49), returned to Nazareth with them and “was subject to them.” (Luke 2, 51).

Obedience in the Sorrowfuls

From the last Joyful Mystery, we pass to the First Sorrowful, which we discussed in our post, In the Garden of Olives, a Prayer.  This First Sorrowful Mystery carries through the theme of obedience as Jesus echoes His Mother’s words at the Annunciation with His own, ” … not as I will but as Thou wilt”. In fact, the entire Sorrowful Mysteries are a most vivid example of the virtue of obedience by the Master Himself. Sin came into the world by the “Non serviam” of the very first disobedient servant, Satan, and its power over us was only broken by the Suffering (Obedient) Servant who was wounded for our iniquities, He “was bruised for our sins; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and by His bruises we are healed”. (Isaiah 53)

Although Our Lord bore the chastisement of our peace that we may be freed from original sin and saved, we shall not receive our peace until we ourselves have followed Him up that path of blood soaked stones to our own cross. For as surely as the Glorious Mysteries follow the Sorrowful, the Resurrection can only follow the Crucifixion. It is only through the fullness of obedience that the fullness of peace may be achieved. Now take this to heart: it is only through the fullness of obedience that the fullness of peace may be achieved.

Obedience and the Passion of the Church

As we look around at this poor Church of ours, we cannot but think of that 53rd chapter of Isaiah, ” … there is no beauty in Him, nor comeliness: and we have seen Him, and there was no sightliness, that we should be desirous of Him.” The visible structure of the Church, as reflected in its shepherds is now made exceedingly unsightly, and we the members carry this burden, it is our cross, right now, in this crisis.

To the extent that we refuse this burden of reparation for the disobedience of our own shepherds, that is, to the extent that we prefer actions of our own choosing to those obedient and penitential actions commanded by the Blessed Virgin Mary and Our Lord Jesus Christ, we fail in obedience.

The Obedience of the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts

Since our Lord Jesus Christ suffered in His own pure and perfect body the greatest of pains, humiliations and ignominies in order to free us from sin, we too, must be obedient and accept whatever chastisement God’s justice demands of us, for by our obedient submission to sufferings, we unite our hearts with His Sacred Heart, not only for our own salvation, but for all sinners, especially those most in need of His mercy.

It is this generous response that is needed today. We are Mary’s Children first and so we follow her Divine Child to the Cross. And we recall her promise for those devoted to her,

“To whomever embraces this devotion, I promise salvation. These souls shall be dear to God, as flowers placed by me to adorn His throne.”

This life is but a brief span, eternity is our true home and humble obedience to Mary’s requests is our surest, safest path to heaven.

As an addendum, I have a brief essay on the Hail Mary by Saint Thomas a Kempis, which I found in an old book by Father John Ryan, “The Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary”, Dublin, 1866.

THE EXCELLENCE OF THE HAIL MARY

by St. Thomas a Kempis

Now let the pious lover of thy holy name give ear. Heaven rejoices and all the earth stands amazed, when I say ‘Hail Mary’. Satan is put to flight, and hell trembles with fear, when I say ‘Hail Mary’. Sorrow leaves me and new joy returns, when I say ‘Hail Mary’! Sloth vanishes and my heart melts with love, when I say ‘Hail Mary’! Devotion increases, hope grows strong and consolation increases, when I say ‘Hail Mary’.

For indeed so great is the sweetness of this blessed salutation, that human language is unable to express it, but it always continues higher and deeper than all creatures can fathom. Wherefore I again humbly bend my knees to thee, most holy Virgin Mary, and say, ‘Hail Mary, full of grace’. Receive, my most clement lady, Holy Mary, this most devout salutation, and receive me in it, that I may have something pleasing and grateful to thee, which may inspire me with confidence in thee, which may inflame me with greater love for thee, and may preserve in me constant devotion to thy venerable name.

Would that I may be able to repeat this most sweet salutation of Gabriel, for all my sins whereby I have deserved wrath, and most grievously afflicted thy Son, and have so often dishonoured and offended thee also, and the whole host of heaven so that I may offer it a holy and pure sacrifice of prayer to atone for all the sins I have committed. Since my own life is so fleeting and uncertain, I would that all the blessed souls in heaven might repeat this salutation to thee, O Blessed Virgin, wherewith the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost ordained to salute thee by the mouth of their ambassador. Thus I may discover in some respect an incense worthy of thee as an odour of sweetness, I who find in myself nothing good or worthy to repay thee.

But even now, prostrate in thy presence, drawn by sincere devotion, and all-inflamed with the veneration of thy gracious name, I present to thee the joy thou didst feel at this salutation, when the Archangel Gabriel, being sent by God, entered thy chamber and reverently, on bended knees, honoured thy virginal countenance with a salutation new and unheard-of since the beginning of the world, saying, “Hail, Mary, full of grace! the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women!”

Which salutation I also, after the manner of the faithful, wish to offer thee anew, and were it in my power, I would offer it with a golden mouth and I desire from the bottom of my heart, that all creatures may say along with me,

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Amen.

This is the Angelic Salutation, formed by the institution of the Holy Ghost, and suited to thy supreme dignity and sanctity. This prayer consists of few words, but is deep in mysteries; short in speech but broad in virtue; sweeter than honey and more precious than gold – to be ruminated continually in the mouth of the heart – to be read and repeated most frequently with pure lips. For though it be woven with very few words, it spreads wide out into a broad torrent of heavenly sweetness. But woe to the slothful, woe to those undevout, and those who wander in this prayer, who weigh not these words, and taste not the sweetness they contain; who so often say, Hail Mary, without attention and reverence.

O most sweet Virgin Mary, guard me against such grievous neglect and sloth, and grant me pardon of the faults I have already committed. I will be in future more devout, fervent, and attentive in saying Hail Mary, whether in choir, or by myself, in the garden or in the field, or in whatever place I happen to be. And now, after this, what shall I ask of thee, my dearest Lady? What can be better, or more useful, or more necessary for me, an unworthy sinner, than that I may find grace and favour with thee and thy most-beloved Son. I therefore implore the grace of God, through thy power and intercession, who, as the angel declared, hast found the fulness of grace before God.

No petition is dearer to me, and there is nothing I am more in need of than the grace and mercy of God. The “grace of God is sufficient for me”, though I should possess nothing else. For what are all my efforts without it, yet what is impossible with its help and assistance?

I hope to be able, God willing, to post more from this book by Father Ryan.

Portions of the above post were posted in 2019, before the crash of our site (in March, 2020) and have been restored, edited and much new material added.

The Resurrection and Assumption of the Blessed Virgin

Our title for today’s post comes from “The Month of Mary” by Saint Francis de Sales. We offer it today so that this beautiful feast of Our Lady may linger a few days more in our hearts rejoicing and strengthening us in our devotion to this most loving Mother given to us by our Lord from His saving cross.

THE RESURRECTION AND ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN

There can be no doubt whatever that Our Lord fulfilled towards Mary the precept which He gave in general to all children to honour their parents. Indeed, where is the son who would not raise his mother from the grave to lead her to Paradise, if he had it in his power?

The great triumph of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin is celebrated by all the Saints, and by the whole Church Militant. After the Ark of the Covenant had dwelt for a long period under tents and pavilions, King Solomon ordered it to be placed in the marvellous Temple he had prepared for it. The joy of the Hebrews on that occasion was so great that the blood of the sacrifices flowed through the streets of Jerusalem; the air was filled with clouds of incense, and the houses and public squares resounded with harmonious music.

But, O God, if the solemnity of the reception of the Ark was so great, what must have been that of the Most Glorious Virgin, Mother of the Son of God, the true Ark of the New Covenant, upon the day of her Assumption ! O incomprehensible joy! – festival of wonders! – which makes all devout souls who are the true daughters of Jerusalem, exclaim:  ‘Who is she that goeth up from the desert leaning upon her Beloved?’

The entrance of the Most Blessed Virgin into heaven was the most magnificent that ever could or can be witnessed after that of Jesus Christ. She ascends from the desert of this lower world, so perfumed with spiritual gifts that, except in the Person of her Divine Son, she has no equal in heaven. The Queen of Saba, coming to Jerusalem to have a proof of the wisdom of Solomon, brought with her a great quantity of perfumes, gold, and precious stones. But, when the Most Holy Virgin entered heaven, she carried with her such an amount of the pure gold of charity, so much perfume of devotion and of virtue, and so many precious gems of patience and of suffering, that we can safely say no one ever had so great an accumulation of merits to offer her Divine Son!

Yes, indeed, she abounded in delights, because during her life on earth she had abounded in good works and in sufferings. We may say that, in one sense, the Assumption of Our Lady was even more glorious than the Ascension of Jesus Christ; because the Angels only were present at the Ascension, whilst at the Assumption of Our Lady the King of Angels Himself attended her. What a triumph was it for Heaven, and what a consolation for earth! Ah, let us in spirit dwell and live in heaven, because there is our treasure and our life.

O my God, how beautiful is heaven now that its sun is Our Blessed Saviour, and His bosom is the Source of Love, where the Blessed drink and quench their thirst! If we look up there, we shall see our names written in characters of Love, which can be read only by Love, and engraved only by Love. O God! and will my name also be there? Let me trust so because although my heart burns not with ardent Charity, it has, however, its desire and its principle, and bears written upon it the Sacred Name of Jesus, which I hope nothing will be able to cancel.

O what a joy for us when we shall see those characters denoting our eternal happiness! As for me, although those eternal blessings occupy all my desires and affections, yet all Paradise would be nothing to me if I did not find there the never-ending Love of the Eternal God, Who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Let us bear in mind that Jesus Christ looks upon us from heaven, and sweetly invites us to come and enjoy the delights of His goodness and the abundance of His love. The Most Holy Virgin also invites us as a Mother, saying to each of us: ‘Courage, my child; despise not the ardent desires of my Son, and my sighs and petitions for thy salvation’.

And yet, how often have we not preferred the miserable vanities and bitter pleasures of earth to those incomparable joys ! Ah, faithful souls; let us henceforth accept the favours which the Most Holy Virgin and the Saints offer us. Let us promise them to walk quickly on towards heaven; and let us take hold of the hand of our good Angel-guardian, that we may never again stumble, but happily reach the gates of a blessed eternity.

SPIRITUAL FLOWERS

The qualities of the material rose vividly represent the attributes of Mary, the Mystical Rose. The perfume of the rose signifies the joys of the Most Blessed Virgin; its thorns represent to us her sorrows; and the beauty of its colour her glory in heaven. Mary is the beautiful Lily who looks down from her high throne upon all other flowers, and sees them inferior to herself. (St. John Damascene).

The difference between material and spiritual rose-trees is this, that in the former, the roses fade and the thorns remain; whilst, in the latter, the thorns pass away and the roses remain. (St. Francis de Sales).

PRACTICE:

Consecrate yourself generously to Mary, and renew this consecration every Saturday.

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin

by St. Francis de Sales

Chapter XV

THE FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION

From “Practical Piety” by Saint Francis de Sales

I was meditating this evening, as the weakness of my sight would permit, on this queen dying of a fever sweeter than all health; I mean, the fever of love, which drying up her heart, at last enkindles it, sets it all on fire, consumes it in such sort, that she breathes forth her holy soul, which goes straight to the hands of her Son. Ah, how fair is this dawn of the eternal day, which, ascending towards heaven, goes on, as it seems to me, increasing more and more in the benedictions of its incomparable glory! All the elect die in the habit of holy love; but some of them, beyond that, die in the exercise of this holy love; some, for this love, like the martyrs, and others, by this same love.

But what belongs to the supreme degree of this love is, that some die of love; and that is when love not only wounds the soul, so as to make it languish, but transfixes it, striking in the midst of the heart, and so strongly, that it drives the soul out of the body.

Such was the death of the holy Virgin, of whom it is impossible to imagine that she died of any other sort of death than that of love; a death the most noble of all, and consequently due to the most noble life which was ever lived among creatures,—a death of which angels themselves would desire to die if they were capable of death. The holy Virgin having nothing in her which could hinder the operation of the divine love of her Son, united herself with Him in an incomparable union, by sweet ecstasies, peaceful and effortless; so that the death of this holy Virgin was more gentle than we can possibly imagine, her Son sweetly drawing her by the odour of His perfumes, and she gliding off in this odour most gently into the bosom of His goodness; and although that holy soul loved her most holy and most pure and most fair body, nevertheless she quitted it without pain and without resistance, to go to reunite herself to her dear Son.

Love having, at the foot of the cross, given this divine mother the supreme dolours of death, it was reasonable that death should give her the sovereign delights of love. Ah, may it please this holy Virgin to make us live by her prayers in this holy love; may it be forever the singular and only object of our heart. Live Jesus; live Mary, the stay of my life!

Litany and Novena to Our Lady of Victory

We offer the  Novena to Our Lady of Victory to be prayed from 28 September (tomorrow)  to the eve of her feastday, that is, 6 October. At Lepanto, 7 October, 1571, Our Lady of the Rosary triumphed over the muslims who were determined to eradicate the Catholic faith from the world. Today, she stands ready to deliver an even more impressive victory, asking only a humble and contrite obedience to her requests at Fatima, Portugal in 1917. The same dark power that waged a bloody war against the Bride of Christ in the muslim wars against the Church is even now locked in a mortal combat with the Woman who will, in God’s time, crush its hateful head.

The following Litany and its accompanying prayers, when combined with our Lady’s Holy Rosary form the basis for our Novena to Our Lady of Victory.

MEMORARE

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who, fled to thy protection, implored thy help, and sought thine intercession, was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To thee I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate! despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

The Rosary is an essential part of this Novena of course, since the Rosary is the means chosen by Our Lady of Victory to defeat all heresies and restore the faith.

At Fatima, in response to Lúcia’s question, “Who are you?” Our Lady replied, “I am Our Lady of the Rosary.”

Sister Lucia explains:

“The Most Holy Virgin in these last times in which we live has given a new efficacy to the recitation of the Holy Rosary. She has given this efficacy to such an extent that there is no problem, no matter how difficult it is, whether temporal or above all, spiritual, in the personal life of each one of us, of our families, of the families of the world, or of the religious communities, or even of the life of peoples and nations that cannot be solved by the Rosary. There is no problem I tell you, no matter how difficult it is, that we cannot resolve by the prayer of the Holy Rosary.”

Frère Michel tells us that Sister Lucia often stressed that in every one of her six apparitions, Our Lady made sure to repeat the request, always in the same terms, with the same insistence: Recite the Rosary every day!”

“This shows how much this beautiful prayer, so traditional in the Church, is supremely pleasing to Her motherly heart. Far from being a completely secondary and optional devotion, the Virgin of Fatima came to reveal to us that the Rosary is the most ordinary condition to infallibly obtain all the graces that we ask of Her.

“Yes, She is the Mediatrix of all graces, by the good pleasure of Her Son. But this outpouring of favors which She holds in Her Heart, She can only release on each of our souls, our families, our countries and the world, in response to the humble and suppliant imploring of innumerable Rosaries. If, just as at Lourdes, She willed to appear at the Cova da Iria holding in Her hand this blessed instrument, guide of our prayers, it was to show us that it is the surest means, because it is the easiest and the humblest, of winning Her Heart and obtaining Her graces.

Frère Michel quotes Sister Lúcia:

“The Rosary is, for the great part of souls who are living in the world, as it were their daily spiritual bread. To deprive them of it, inciting them to neglect or ignore this prayer, is to snatch from their mouth the bread of grace.”

And so, take heart – The battle is far from over – Our Blessed Mother is always victorious!
Rejoice, O Virgin Mary for thou alone hast destroyed all heresies in all the world.

“Who is she that cometh forth as the morning rising, fair as the moon, bright as the sun, terrible as an army set in array?”

The Divine Mercy Chaplet and the Holy Rosary

Today, we address a recent comment on our last post on Divine Mercy devotion:

“I pray the Rosary every day. I found that the divine mercy is a calming prayer when I feel too much sorrows and pains in my soul, and can’t bear anymore. I see the image as reflecting Jesus after his side was pierced and all his blood and water came out. This is an important moment. For me it has a special private meaning, which I might share with you one day… anyway, I guess each one has his own way to be devoted.”

Reply:

We are agreed that the repetitiveness of the Divine Mercy Chaplet is soothing. That seems to be the consensus of most who pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet. My point is that the Chaplet omits much that is necessary for our true spiritual nourishment. There is simply so much more sustenance in the Rosary!

At one time in my life, I found something similar in the repetitive “Jesus Prayer”: “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner.” The prayer helped at a time when I was driven nearly to despair. However, like you, I also prayed my rosary and it was the rosary that moved to make the necessary changes to to become a child of Mary. That is to say, the rosary moved me from simple soothing prayer to a fruitful prayer, which drove me to cast aside vanities that hindered spiritual growth and take up my cross with a loving sacrificial heart, because my heart, through Our Lady’s rosary, had become linked to hers.

This transformation took place as a result of the meditations on the sacred mysteries of the rosary. Instead of repeating the Hail Mary with my mind in a neutral gear,  the rosary’s mysteries opened my mind and heart to the thoughts of her Immaculate Heart. In time, I noticed various things about the mysteries. An example:

The Joyful Mysteries end with the reunion of Mother and Child Jesus in the Temple, a joyful event which nevertheless has a twinge of sorrow for the things that are to come, as Jesus reminds her He must be about His Father’s business.

Then, we go to the Sorrowful Mysteries and begin to discover the extent of Our Father’s business. And in the last Sorrowful Mystery we see the Mother and Child reunited again, but this time at His Crucifixion and death. We share her sorrow as Mary holds her Divine Son in her arms. We begin to realize the extent of His immense love for us, and the gravity of sin which causes such suffering.

This infinitely sorrowful moment is followed by the Glorious Mysteries which show us the triumph of the Cross. In the last Glorious Mystery, Mother and Child again reunite, this time in the splendour of heaven. The Coronation of Mary as Queen of Heaven is the culmination of the Mysteries of the Rosary and exemplifies both the end of the Christian’s journey and the end of the Church’s journey. For in it we see that the Coronation of Mary in Heaven is God’s foreshadowing of the triumph of His Church.

The rosary gives solace, but also helps us identify the deeply ingrained sins that hinder our progress. With our Rosaries, we open up our hearts and our minds to the Mother of God, the Seat of Wisdom and allow her to share the thoughts of her immaculate heart with us.

So many others speak much more effectively on the benefits of the rosary and I apologize for my inadequacy in this regard. This is merely a very brief attempt to reply to one reader’s comment; Please understand that I am not attacking the Divine Mercy devotion;  only trying to explain why it is better to pray the rosary if at all possible.

After all,

It is the rosary that Our Lady asked for, and it is the Rosary that she used to defeat other heresies at earlier times and will use again, to defeat Modernism and atheistic materialism, the two beasts which threaten the Church today.

So there you have it!

Now, pray the rosary and confound satan and all his works and pomps!

Thoughts on the First Joyful Mystery

The Rosary is a beautiful prayer composed by the Father, Son and Holy Ghost in honor of the most beloved Daughter, Mother and Spouse of the Most High Trinity, and is meant to be a sure path to lead us through the darkness of this life.

We never pray the Rosary alone!

We often hear how much Our Lady loves for us to pray her Rosary, but not enough is said about how much Our Lord Jesus Christ loves for us to pray the Rosary. Do people understand, really understand that we could never pray our Rosaries attentively without Our Dear Lord’s help? And when we prepare to pray it, we must understand that of ourselves, we are completely unable to pray worthily to Mary, the Mother of God. It is only through Jesus, who loves both Mary and ourselves and wants to see us united in His love, only through Him that we can pray her Rosary worthily.

But once you grasp that simple fact; surrender all attempts to pray well on your own, and beg Him, of His infinite mercy to abide with you and assist you as you attempt to honor His dear Mother, He will open the treasures of this incomparable prayer for you. You will be delighted as He unfolds the Rosary for you, for it is an exquisite album filled with His loving memories. With it, He will show you how He desires you to approach Him, how to best serve Him and what plans He has for you.

The very first thing you will notice, once you understand the Rosary from this perspective, is that Our Lord Jesus Christ introduces us to His Mother at the very beginning. When someone loves you, they want you to meet, and love, those who matter the most to them, for love always unites good to good! In the First Joyful Mystery, the Annunciation, Our Lord introduces us to His beloved Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary. He paints us a picture of her, so that we can appreciate her beauty and virtue. Let’s see what He tells us.

“And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God into a city of Galilee, called Nazareth, To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’ s name was Mary. And the angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. Who having heard, was troubled at his saying, and thought with herself what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said to her: Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found grace with God.

Behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and shalt bring forth a son; and thou shalt call His name Jesus. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the most High; and the Lord God shall give unto Him the throne of David His father; and He shall reign in the house of Jacob for ever. And of His kingdom there shall be no end. And Mary said to the angel: How shall this be done, because I know not man? And the angel answering, said to her: The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the most High shall overshadow thee. And therefore also the Holy which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

And behold thy cousin Elizabeth, she also hath conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her that is called barren: Because no word shall be impossible with God. And Mary said: Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it done to me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.” (Luke 1, 26-38)

Now, the very first thing He tells us about Mary is that she is pure and innocent, a virgin. At the same time, He tells us that God the Father sent His angel Gabriel, who stands before the throne of God, to Mary. Gabriel’s name means Power of God and he is only mentioned by name in Daniel (in the Old Testament) and in Luke. Note the respect that Gabriel shows to Mary, referring to her as “full of grace” and “blessed among women”. He also states that “the Lord is with thee”, all of which confirm the purity of Mary and her fullness of grace.

After Gabriel tells her that she is to become the Mother of Jesus, Mary speaks her first words. “How shall this be done, because I know not man?” Now, Jesus is showing us with what beautiful virtues His Mother is arrayed. Her purity, far from being a negative thing, merely the absence of sexual activity, is a powerful affirmation of God. Mary’s virginity, like her Immaculate Conception is the indwelling of God’s grace and mercy. Whereas Eve, the first ‘Woman’, withdrew herself from her Creator in order to seek her own good, Mary, the ‘Woman’ of the New Testament, yielded herself totally to God, allowing Him to fill her with His life, thus, she is ‘full of grace’. The virtues shown by this simple verse are Mary’s perfect love of God, her total consecration to Him, her purity, and her perseverance in keeping her vow.

Gabriel explained that the Incarnation of the Son of God would be accomplished by the power of God through the Holy Ghost. Mary then said, “Behold the handmaid of the Lord, be it done unto me according to thy word.” With this verse, Our Lord shows us Mary’s humility and obedience, two of the most essential virtues. I call them ‘working virtues’ because you really cannot get through a day without them if you are intent on living close to Jesus and Mary. You must always beg Our Lord for an increase in these because it is a constant war to keep them. They are most hateful to the devil and he strives mightily to strip us of them.

So, Our Lord Jesus Christ has painted us an incredibly beautiful picture here, portraying His Mother so that we can see her beauty, her excellent virtues and her unique stature before the Holy Trinity. By showing her to us in this way, He sets out the virtues He wants us to acquire and the means He intends us to use. “Here is My Mother”, He is saying. “I give her to you. See, we shall have the same Mother! She will be your example of the necessary virtues and she will teach you how to grow in them and advance toward union with Me, so that we can rejoice together in Heaven.”

If you will take a moment before beginning your rosary to put yourself in His presence and acknowledge your wretched unworthiness to pray fittingly to Our Blessed Mother, and ask His help so that together you can honor and love her, He will draw close and teach you and you will have the peace that only comes from truly being a child of Mary. He so wants to bring us to her, and she so wants to bring us to Him! Only ask and you will be astonished at the profligacy with which these two Sacred Hearts pour out their blessings on you!

O my Jesus, it is for love of Thee and of our Virgin Mother, I offer these prayers, in reparation for my sins, the sins of my family, the sins of the Church and for the conversion of sinners. I beg the reign of Thy Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary in my heart, my life, my family and the Church. My Jesus, grant that I may love Thee always and then do with me what Thou will. Amen.

Pray the Rosary and confound the devil!
