From Guadalupe to Fatima, 2022

Hail, O Virgin of Guadalupe, Empress of America!
Keep forever under thy powerful patronage the purity and integrity of Our Holy Faith on the entire American continent. Amen. (Pope Pius XII)

I have repaired the link to my post Convergence yet again. It is here.

Pope Pius XII is reported to have said of Our Lady of Guadalupe, “For we are certain, that as long as you are recognized as Queen and Mother, Mexico and America will be safe.” Think about that as you survey the horrid wreckage of the faith and Christian culture throughout the countries of the entire Americas today. And then, consider how simply we could restore the glory of Holy Church by following the request of Our Lord Jesus Christ to return to His Sacred Heart by means of the sure path He has given us, devotion to the Immaculata, the Woman Clothed with the Sun.

THE AGE OF APOSTASY

The Age of Apostasy began with the disobedience of Luther, who was Lucifer’s own priest, and whose revolt ripped through Christendom in the sixteenth century and left in its wake an orphan people, bereft of grace, endlessly prating about the dignity of man while assiduously destroying any sign of man’s true dignity which is to be found  only  in the love of Our Lord Jesus Christ. For our sole dignity is in Our Lord Jesus Christ who has first loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood. (Apoc. 1,5)

The Mystery of La Salette, 2022

previously posted September 19, 2020

“Well now, my children, you will pass this along to all my children.”

With those words, on September 19,  1846, Our Lady of La Salette concluded her message to the little cowherds, Melanie Calvat and Maximin Giraud. What an intriguing statement this is as we look back over the many decades since Our Lady of La Salette left us.  She does not ask the children to pass her message along, she simply states that they will.

In “Beyond Politics“, Solange Hertz wrote of the strident resistance to the message of La Salette which arose not so much from outside the Church as from within the Church herself, “despite the fact that the apparition enjoyed almost immediately the full approbation of the Church with rich indulgences granted to pilgrims and canonically approved miracles…”

La Salette – Thoughts on the Symbols, 2021

Our Lady appeared 175 years ago at La Salette, France, September 19, 1846. Today’s post is the second of our two posts on the Prophecy of Our Lady of La Salette.

Today, a brief discussion on the symbols we see in the Vision of La Salette and their possible meaning to us now.

A reader has asked me about the depiction of Our Lady of La Salette, “She appears weeping profusely, and dressed in a distinctive manner, is there some special meaning behind this?”  I will venture a few impressions, but dear readers, please feel free to offer your own opinions or those of others.

The first impression, regarding her tears, is that she is sorrowful because of the betrayal of her children, and this is especially poignant to her in her most beloved priests. Although this was not as obvious at the time, in the mid-19th century as it is today, the betrayal of Our Lord Jesus Christ by His priests is one of the deepest wounds of Our Lord’s present Passion in the Church. When Our Blessed Mother cries, how can her children be indifferent?

In her apparition at La Salette, Our Lady never stopped crying, and now, 175 years later, what do you think Our Lord will do?  You may consider re-reading our prophecy of Elizabeth Canori-Mora. Whether you believe me or not, the hour is indeed very late. (Apoc. 3.3)

THE SYMBOLS, A DIRE WARNING

The unique Crucifix of La Salette has a hammer on the left and a pincers on the right. Although it was not as clear then, it is much clearer now, isn’t it? The hammer on the left, symbol of hatred and sin, the very malice of Satan, was the tool used to nail the most Sacred Body of Christ to the Cross. And now we recognise it as the symbol of atheistic communism, tool of the anti-christ and now the  treasured symbol of Pope Francis.

Now think, on the left, the hammer which crucifies our Savior, and on the right, the pincers with which the true friends of Christ removed the hateful nails hammered in by Christ’s enemies.

As for the apparition, it was a vision of Our Lady radiant with the same dazzling light as at Fatima and of the same indescribable beauty. The vari-coloured roses call to mind the rays of light in many hues issuing from the rings on the fingers of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception when she gave the Miraculous Medal to Saint Catherine Labouré, and those rays represented graces. Although I have not seen any explanation, I believe that may be a similar interpretation in this instance, for she is the Mediatrix of Grace and those graces are largely ignored, treated with indifference today.

Think a moment on her tears and the hammer: Kneeling at your crucifix in meditation on the sorrowful mysteries, can you not hear that hammer echoing on down through the ages as it drove those nails through Our Dear Lord’s sacred hands and feet?  Can you not imagine that she still hears that hammer, feels in her sorrowful heart the pain of that hammer, those nails, our own hatred, sin and indifference to her Son’s love for us?

ANNOUNCING THE PASSION OF THE CHURCH

All of the symbols, taken in their entirety, point to a particular interpretation, which is a most dire warning.  I believe that Our Lady was announcing the beginning of the true Passion of the Church. She is indicating that just as Satan once infiltrated the close-knit band of Christ’s Apostles with Judas, at the time of her visit to La Salette, Satan had already achieved a very significant foothold within the leadership of the Church. The Pope had already conceded to the Masonic leaders of France the right to choose Bishops. Hence, we saw the virulent opposition of several French bishops – and then joined by those in other countries – to Our Lady’s message at La Salette. Today, again, this is much clearer as we now have a pope who is the perfect example of what a masonic pope would be, put into office by the machinations of a masonic Cardinal Danneels and applauded by Freemasons from Italy to Argentina.

THE CHURCH WILL BE ECLIPSED

On that remote mountaintop in France, Our Lady warned us that the true Church would be eclipsed. She warned of the same lying wonders we see today as gullible Catholics prefer comforting false apparitions to the sterner stuff of the true Marian apparitions. She foretold the immense apostasy that is so painfully evident today. Our Lady of La Salette is known as “Reconciler of Sinners”, but all discussion of her message has been silenced by those in control of the Church. Indeed, Melanie Calvat and Lucia of Fatima remain effectively silenced to this day, while heretics are honored.

After the revolution of Vatican II, the Index of Forbidden Books was abolished, allowing heresy to be proclaimed openly and taught in seminaries, but the prohibition against discussing the message of La Salette has never been lifted. That makes only two messages forbidden, La Salette and the true Message of Fatima, for Sister Lúcia was also silenced.

A CALL TO  REPARATION

Since both warned of the satanic control of the Church, we do, as foretold by Sister Lucia, understand more clearly. Even more than at La Salette, Fatima’s Message is explicitly a call to rigorous reparation. Little children were shown hell and urged to make of everything a sacrifice. But yet, the most influential Catholic leaders today have failed to unite and proclaim the need for First Saturdays of Reparation and the entire Fatima Plan. Please continue to pray that they will do so.

For so long now, from her message at Quito, on through La Salette and Knock and then to Fatima and at last, to Akita, Our Lady has sorrowfully begged her children to hear her. She is still, with immense sorrow, awaiting our response.

Well dear readers, the choice is yours – to heed the Message consistently given by the Most Holy Mother of God over many centuries from Quito to Fatima, or to waste precious time on fruitless distractions and false devotions, false solutions. La Salette’s message and prophecy, like Fatima’s is stern but merciful and it is the only message we have been given. There is no other. Return to the Message of Fatima while you can.

“God is giving two last remedies to the world.
These are the Holy Rosary and Devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
These are the last two remedies which signify that there will be no others.”
(Sister Lucia of Fatima.)

Remember – Our Lady needs us to obey:  First Saturdays of Reparation, daily rosary, at least 5 mysteries, wear her brown scapular and live your Total Consecration to her Immaculate Heart, offering daily duties in reparation and for the conversion of poor sinners.

†  Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of our hearts, Mother of the Church, do thou offer to the Eternal Father the Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, for the conversion of poor sinners, especially our Pontiff.

Open your hearts to the Lord and serve Him only: and He will free you from the hands of your enemies. With all your heart return to Him, and take away from your midst any strange gods” (I Kings 7:3)

†  Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thy kingdom come! Viva Cristo Rey!
†  O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse thee!
†  St. Joseph, protect us, protect our families, protect our priests.
†  St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.

Please pray for the Consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary!

~ by evensong for love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, King.
Vouchsafe that I may praise thee, O Sacred Virgin! Give me strength against thine enemies!

From Guadalupe to Fatima, 2020

Hail, O Virgin of Guadalupe, Empress of America!
Keep forever under thy powerful patronage the purity and integrity of Our Holy Faith on the entire American continent. Amen. (Pope Pius XII)

(Apoc. 1,5)

In response to this monumental affront, He Who is love sent the world His love! That is to say, Our Lord granted to us His own most beloved  Mother. Even as the foul-mouthed Luther was delivering his scatological “sermons”, Our Lord sent the Blessed Virgin to her children in the New World to grant them the favor of her image, miraculously imprinted on Juan Diego’s cactus cloth tilma. This image displays Our Lady as the “Woman clothed with the Sun” of Apocalypse 12.  Thus, we see Our Lord counter the hateful disobedience of Luther  with loving obedience, and counter what is foul and ugly with what is pure and beautiful, and counter deceit with Truth.

THE WOMAN CLOTHED WITH THE SUN

To this end, the magnificent work of the Mother of God began with her apparitions in Mexico in December, 1531, and followed in succession by her apparitions to Mother Mariana de Jesus Torres in the Conceptionist Convent in Quito, Ecuador in the early 17th century, the apparitions of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque of the Visitation Convent in Paray-le-Monial, France beginning  in December, 1673. These actions of the Divine Mercy were in turn followed by the apparitions at Rue du Bac, (1830) where Our Lady granted the Medal of the Immaculate Conception (Miraculous Medal) to her children through St. Catherine Labouré, a nun of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul.  Our Lady’s appearance to Saint Catherine Labouré was quickly followed by three more  more divine interventions;  La Salette, (September, 1851), Lourdes from February until March 25, 1858 and at Knock (August, 1879).

The sequence of the interventions reveals a significant development. By Our Lady’s appearance at Guadalupe in the image of the Immaculata, clothed with the Sun, “she who crushes the serpent’s head”, the challenge of Lucifer’s Luther was met by God’s Virgin Mother. This intervention countered Luther’s attack on souls with the Virgin’s offering of salvation to whole nations who had never known the true God. By it, many millions of souls were saved and a message of obedient trust in Mary was given for her children.

In those days, Satan had  ripped away 5,000,000 souls from the bosom of the faith by Protestantism but their numbers were more than replaced in a few years by the intervention of the Virgin of Guadalupe, which gained for the Bride of Christ more than 9,000,000 Aztec converts (out of 10 million).

In her image, we are led to  Apocalypse 12; for in both images she is clothed with the sun and stands on the new moon.  This is significant for several reasons, but most relevant for the present time is its indication that she will come again to conquer the sect that has so persecuted Christians for centuries; and that this will usher in a period of peace.

OUR LADY OF GOOD SUCCESS

The apparitions of Our Lady of Good Success in the next century gave us a comforting prophecy for our times, the times of an almost total corruption of society; but which is paradoxically the beginning of the “Good Success” of the victory of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. For just as Our Lord Jesus Christ conquered death by dying only to rise again, so by His will, His most Blessed Mother will conquer the sin infecting the Holy Church. This sin – which is slavery to satan – is being drawn out, to be seen by all, even the most recalcitrant, in all its horrid ugliness; and it will be soon cast from the Holy Church, by virtue of this Woman, clothed with the Sun, she who is “conceived without sin”.

THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS

But that sign was not as widely known in those days, for it was meant for these days. Then came Our Lord Himself in the 17th century, Who promised us great graces for honoring Him in the image of His most Sacred Heart.  Although this most powerful devotion was declined by the Kings of France, Our Lord’s command  remains in force and when at last it is obeyed we shall see great progress in the restoration.  The Sacred Heart of Jesus is united with the Immaculate Heart of His Mother and so the following centuries saw an increase in Marian apparitions  which emphasized the Immaculate Conception and called the faithful to pray for sinners, to repent and offer penance.

OUR LADY OF LA SALETTE

When Our Lady’s message to Melanie and Maximin was silenced by the powerful sect of satan both within and without the Church, Our Lady eloquently appeared in a silent tableau at Knock, Ireland to express the suppressed message (warning). Her sorrowful tears at La Salette replaced by a cold, driving rain. La Salette’s  warning of the apostasy of the Church, was enforced by the apocalyptic apparition occurring outside the church of a priest who refused to recognise it.  The altar at Knock was stripped bare, but the Sacrificial Lamb gives voice to the now suppressed Sacrifice.

OUR LADY OF LOURDES, THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

In between those visits, Our Lady intervened at Lourdes to offer us another sign of her mercy. There, she confirms that she is the Immaculate Conception, and requests penance after granting the faithful a miraculous spring of healing waters. See the progression: growing emphasis on devotion to her Immaculate Conception, coupled with signs of grace such as the Miraculous Medal and the Holy Water of Lourdes. She nourishes us and defends us while with her apparitions she urges us to preserve the faith.

OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY AT FATIMA

The divine interventions of the 19th century were crowned by the Queen of apparitions, that of Fatima, Portugal in 1917. These apparitions occurred in the bloodiest century in the history of the world, in the year which saw the resurgence of the great red dragon in direct contradiction to the most Blessed Virgin; and this bloody battle is quickly ascending to its terrifying climax. For the House of God has been almost thoroughly eclipsed by the one world church of man. Lucifer is enthroned in the Vatican and Luther appears to have supplanted the Blessed Virgin at the foot of the Cross. See our post Convergence. (NOTE: This links should work now)

And now as we approach the height of the spiritual and material Chastisements, in her visits to Fatima, this same Woman clothed with the sun offers us her Rosary, her Scapular, and Total Consecration, that is, total Devotion to her Immaculate Heart as our surest, safest means through the darkness and chaos to eternal blessedness with Jesus our Savior in heaven. Without these means we shall be utterly lost in this dread battle.

For the Church is crucified today; it is the Passiontide of the Bride of Christ. During Our Lord’s Passion, it appeared that the foulness of the sinful world had covered His beautiful visage and now the foulness of the ancient enemy appears to obscure the beauty of the Church. However, we shall soon see her true splendor!

OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE IS THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

Note that Our Lady of Guadalupe is the Immaculate Conception. In this sign, she shall crush the serpent’s head. It is good to honor her today, preferably with the Mass, but also, very urgently, to pray all 15 decades of her Rosary, in reparation for the shameless  idolatry promoted under the auspices of Pope Bergoglio and accepted by the apostate church, and for the triumph of her Immaculate Heart. And we treasure in our hearts always her words to Saint Juan Diego,

“Hear me and understand well, my little son, that nothing should frighten or grieve you. Let not your heart be disturbed. Do not fear that sickness, nor any other sickness or anguish. Am I not here, who is your Mother? Are you not under my protection? Am I not your health? Are you not happily within my fold? What else do you wish? Do not grieve nor be disturbed by anything.”

For a more complete exposition of the message of Guadalupe, including prayers, we recommend Mariana Bartold’s Guadalupe, Secrets of the Image.

Remember – Our Lady needs us to obey:  First Saturdays of Reparation, daily rosary, at least 5 mysteries, wear her brown scapular and live our Total Consecration to her Immaculate Heart, offering daily duties in reparation and for the conversion of poor sinners.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of our hearts, Mother of the Church, do thou offer to the Eternal Father the Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, for the conversion of poor sinners, especially our Pontiff.
Most Precious Blood of Jesus, save us, save our priests.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thy Kingdom come – Viva Cristo Rey!
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.
Remember, pray the rosary and confound satan.

Vouchsafe that I may praise thee, O Sacred Virgin! Give me strength against thine enemies!

The Mystery of La Salette, 2020

THE BISHOPS RESIST

Why this resistance? According to Melanie,

“Alas, the Bishops, those who considered themselves targeted in the Secret, have become the enemies of this merciful Secret, just as the high priests condemned the divine Savior to death! And inasmuch as the Mother of God and of all Christians by adoption at the foot of the Cross has recommended that her message in its entirety be made known to her people, what are we waiting for to obey the Virgin Mother, seeing that every day we behold the punishments announced by the Secret taking place?

“What are we waiting for, inasmuch as Holy Church has shown herself in favor insofar as she can where revelations are concerned? Pius IX ordered the Bishop of Grenoble to build a beautiful Church on the mountain of La Salette. Leo XIII crowned the statue and gave the sanctuary the title of Basilica. What more do we need to beat our breasts, to admit that all, all of us, have sinned, all of us have provoked God’s justice, all of us have set our lips to the poisoned fount of our depraved passions, drunkenness from which plunges us into darkness?

“Whoever is ill-willed in regulating his life according to the law of God, according to the maxims of the Gospel, will always find reasons for doubting everything he wants to be in doubt about; the faith of these people is not a sanctifying faith.”

On September 19, 1846, on La Salette,  two shepherd children saw the beautiful Lady weeping. The Lady’s sad and gentle manner contrasted sharply with the severity of her warning. This contrast was also reflected in the Church’s response: Although Blessed Pope Pius IX ordered the Bishop of Grenoble to construct a beautiful church on the spot of the apparitions and Pope Leo XIII crowned a statue of the Virgin of La Salette and gave the Sanctuary the title of Basilica, still many Bishops and clerics furiously opposed the message of La Salette and persecuted the seers unjustly.

Bishops refused absolution to pilgrims to the shrine, attacked Melanie as “unbalanced”, even insane and eventually succeeded in repressing the message. To this day, Catholics are forbidden to discuss the message. There are still many faithful Catholics who believe the disparaging remarks about the message of La Salette, claiming that Melanie distorted her later writings, contaminating the message of La Salette with false apocalyptic visions. Their motto is the same as the unfaithful Bishops who fought Melanie in her lifetime, “La Salette, yes! Melanie, no!”

Thus, they imply that Our Lady made an error in judgment when she chose to appear to Melanie; that Our Lady entrusted Melanie with a secret, not realizing that Melanie was “deranged”. We see this same arrogance in the modernist prelates who implied similarly that Sister Lucia was somehow mistaken in her understanding of the revelation Our Lady entrusted to her. By denigrating the messenger, whether Melanie or Lucia, they impugn Our Lady indirectly, and cast the message into doubt.

OUR LADY RESPONDS

Our Lady then responded to this arbitrary act of disobedience with her eloquent silent tableaux in Knock, Ireland which was impossible to censure. Then came Lourdes and eventually Fatima. All the visits were warnings and messages which were ignored, manipulated or suppressed. The most egregious of the suppressions was Fatima’s message, after which it became necessary for Our Lady to return once more, to Akita in order to give the final warning. Indeed, the severe warning given by Our Lady of Akita, which was presaged at La Salette, is resonating even more loudly now than when first given. For today we see the prophecies of La Salette and Akita being fulfilled even as the vast majority of Catholics, especially the hierarchy, continues to ignore the prophecy of Our Lady of Fatima as irrelevant.

“… the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity. … greater than the deluge, … Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, … The survivors … will envy the dead. … recite the prayers of the Rosary. With the Rosary, pray for the Pope, the bishops and the priests. … the devil will infiltrate … the Church … The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed … Churches and altars will be sacked. … The demon will be especially implacable against the souls consecrated to God. … If sins increase in number and gravity, there will be no longer pardon for them. … Pray very much the prayers of the Rosary. I alone am able still to save you from the calamities which approach. Those who place their confidence in me will be saved.“ (Fatima, Akita and the Chastisement)

We will not review the entire story of La Salette as it has been recounted already; but only discuss an aspect which is often overlooked: The response of many Bishops and eventually of the Vatican itself, a response that still prejudices many against the message of La Salette and particularly against the messenger herself, Melanie Calvat. In time, in subsequent postings, we will show that it is precisely her battle against satan and his minions working within the Church that is the common thread in all of Our Lady’s apparitions since Guadalupe. In fact, Our Lady presents herself to us in her magnificent vision at Guadalupe as victorious over the serpent; that is, we begin with her victory just as we shall end with her victory!

MASONIC INFLUENCE ON THE BISHOPS

Although Bishop de Bruillard of Grenoble, the diocese in which La Salette is located, approved the message and the devotion after first obtaining the approval of Pope Pius IX, (now Blessed Pope Pius IX), he was succeeded by an unfortunate man, Bishop Ginoulhiac. And therein lies the root of the problem. To understand this we need to go back in time to the beginning of the 19th century. In the aftermath of the terrible French Revolution, Pope Pius VII agreed to sign a Concordat with Napoleon Bonaparte which he hoped would allow some measure of peace and freedom to the Church in France.

Among the concessions granted to Napoleon’s government was that which gave the government the right to nominate bishops for the approval of the pope. Sadly, this allowed an opening for those who were favorable to freemasonry or even to those who were secretly members. Since membership is a strictly held secret, we do not have any sure way of knowing if that was the case in this instance. However, we do know, quite irrefutably, that Bishop de Bruillard’s successor, Bishop Achille Ginoulhiac, who was a close friend of Louis Napoleon III, a freemason, became an implacable enemy of Melanie and did his utmost to undercut the message of La Salette, while ostensibly giving a semblance of support for the devotion, similar to the way modernist prelates have damned Fatima with faint praise and sly aspersions. “By their fruits…”

The reason we recount this here is to note that even as early as 1846, the dark forces of freemasonry were aligning themselves against the faith, exactly as Our Lady of Good Success had warned centuries earlier, even before Freemasonry had been publicly declared. Our Lady appeared on the mountainside in 1846 to show the shepherds – and us – her sorrow and to warn us all, as she had done earlier at her visits at Quito and Rue de Bac and would subsequently do in her apparitions at Knock, Lourdes and Fatima. Thus, we have been warned repeatedly by our Loving Mother and should by now be confirmed in that knowledge. For today we merely note that a most remarkable enmity was aroused against Melanie and her message.

TRAGIC END OF THE FOUR FRENCH BISHOPS

“Four French bishops made it their business to stifle people’s belief in the apparition. But… all four of them died a tragic and mysterious death.

  • Bishop Ginoulhiac of Grenoble who had had little Melanie shut up in an English Convent to keep her quiet, died shortly afterwards in a lunatic asylum.
  • His successor, Bishop Fava, who did everything in his power to stop the spread of news of the apparition, was found dead flat on the floor, naked, his eyes bulging and his fists clenched.
  • Bishop Gilbert of Amiens (and later of Bordeaux), who had said: ‘The secret of La Salette is nothing but a tissue of anti-religion, lies and exaggerations’, was found a short time later, on August 16, 1889, dead in his room stretched out on the floor; and during his funeral the coffin fell off the catafalque.
  • Archbishop Darboy of Paris, who himself interrogated Maximin and did violence to his mind with questions about ideologies so as to get at the secret of the boy: ‘The words of your beautiful Lady are at times just stupid, as your secret will prove stupid.’  But the boy answered: ‘It is as certain that I saw the beautiful Lady as I am certain that within three years you will be shot dead.’  On May 24, 1871 that prophecy came true: the Archbishop was shot dead by the assassins of the Paris commune.”

The above quote (which I have edited slightly for clarity) is widely reprinted on the internet with the names of Bishop Jacques-Marie-Achille Ginoulhiac and Archbishop Georges Darboy misspelled. The quote comes originally from Abbe Gouin’s book, “Sister Mary Of The Cross; The Shepherdess Of La Salette“.

We thus see that the Age of Apostasy began with the arch heretic Martin Luther. Our Lord Jesus Christ responded to satan’s assault by offering us anew His most Sacred Heart. This beautiful devotion was first offered to France, particularly to her King who ignored it until it was too late. Disobedient France is today struggling in darkness because of that indifference. Our Lord then sent His beloved Mother to us, to Guadalupe, to Quito, and so on. Over the centuries, the message should have distilled and clarified within the community of Our Lady’s faithful children. Do you think this has happened? On the contrary, there is confusion among us.

Now, this age of apostasy, which began with the rebellious priest Martin Luther, is drawing to a climax through the diabolical forces occupying the Vatican. In fact, the present occupant is preparing to honor Martin Luther next month. And so we see the  dog return to his vomit. What will Heaven’s response be? After 500 years of warnings?

MEMORARE TO OUR LADY OF LA SALETTE

Remember, dear Lady of La Salette, Mother of Sorrows and Reconciler of sinners, the tears which thou didst shed for me on Calvary; be mindful also of the unceasing care which thou dost exercise to shield me from the justice of God; and consider whether thou canst now abandon thy child, for whom thou hast done so much. Inspired by this consoling thought, I come to cast myself at thy feet, in spite of my past infidelity and ingratitude. Reject not my prayer, O Virgin of Reconciliation, convert me, obtain for me the grace to love our Lord Jesus Christ above all things and to console thee too by living a holy life, in order that one day I may abide with thee in Heaven. Amen.

Tomorrow, God willing, we will have another article on Our Lady of La Salette.

[Note: to those who will ask, the “Mystery” of La Salette referred to in this post’s title is the same Mystery of Iniquity we have been tracing since the beginning and which the Sacred Hearts will vanquish in due time.]

The Message of Our Lady of Knock

Since we posted Mr. Dulston’s essay on the apparition of the Blessed Virgin at Knock, Ireland, several readers have requested more information on the apparition. Although I am unable to provide a good post on Knock at this time, I would like to recommend to you a very good series of articles on Our Lady of Knock posted at Tradition in Action. Mr. Guimaraes’ site has a series on Knock by Gregory Johnson which is very well done. Here is the link: The Message of Our Lady of Knock, The Silence Veils a Secret.

Mr. Johnson’s articles consider Knock within the context of La Salette, Lourdes and Fatima and we can expect at least 2 or possibly 4 more articles in the series, and then, I hope, Mr. Guimaraes will release the series as a book. The few quotes from Mr. Johnson’s series I offer below are not meant to take the place of his articles, but rather to draw you to read them.

Here is a brief but important quote from Mr. Johnson’s first article:

“One closing note: I do not agree with those who say that the silence itself is the message. The message of Our Lady of Knock is not to promote silence.

Those who try to present this silence as the main message that Our Lady wished to convey are promoting a passivity that pressures the faithful to remain inactive and just pray in face of the grave crises in the Church and society we face today. To keep silent before the onslaughts of an evil world and a corrupt Hierarchy is to suppress the Catholic militant spirit.

As will be shown in future articles, I believe that the message of Knock is the opposite of a lifestyle of “peace” where “all my cares and troubles cease,” a phrase from the chorus of the popular Lady of Knock song that has effectively become the modern day theme song of Our Lady of Knock.”

Mr. Johnson is correct, Knock is a warning, not a lullaby. The silent apparition of Knock was a warning against the future silencing of the Message of La Salette, against silencing the message of Fatima and against the future silencing of the Mass. It also, of course, points to the Apocalyptic, “And there was a silence in heaven”, which introduces events significant to us at this particular time of chastisement.

In his second article, Johnson compares the messages of La Salette and Knock. At La Salette our Lady spoke to the children, and warned that Rome would lose the faith and become the seat of the Antichrist, that priests and princes of the Church, along with convents would become corrupted and that the Church would be in eclipse and the world would be in dismay.

All four apparitions, La Salette, Lourdes, Knock and Fatima, appeared outside of a church, and at Knock this was quite pointed, as it occurred in a driving rain, just outside the south gable wall of the little Chapel. Johnson notes:

“One could also ask whether or not the silence of the Knock apparition is a consequence of an infidelity.

“Did the actions of a person or persons, especially if they are members of the Catholic Hierarchy, cause this to be a silent apparition? Did some betrayal cause Divine Providence to “say” in 1879 something analogous to what Our Lord said to the “wicked and adulterous generation” of His time: “A sign shall not be given” (Mt 16:4)?”

At this point, Mr. Johnson’s commentary may run up against resistance from some readers, for he criticises Pope Leo XIII as a liberal. I believe that Mr. Johnson is entirely right in his remarks, and the more you research the matter, the more you will concur with Mr. Johnson.  Perhaps we will have a discussion on this later on, but for now, let us follow with Mr. Johnson’s logic, which is that the silence may have been a reprimand for papal infidelity, (which also occurred regarding Fatima). Continuing from the article:

“Speaking of infidelity, there is another point of contrast between the two apparitions: La Salette received from the Vatican a kind of “gag order”… Knock did not. In 1915, a year after the death of Pope St. Pius X, under the more compromising reign of Pope Benedict XV, there was a decree issued from the Vatican forbidding public commentaries on the secret messages of La Salette. This decree seems to be still in effect even in the present-day scandalous reign of Francis I. We are allowed to have the text, read it and pass it on to friends. But we may not publicly comment on the secret messages of La Salette.

“So, we see that a type of silence was placed upon the apparition at La Salette. Perhaps Our Lady, Queen of Prophets, had this future event in mind when she remained silent at Knock. It would be difficult, even absurd, to try to silence a silent message.”

In his third article, Mr. Johnson reflects on the fact that the silent vision at Knock occurred on August 21, 1879, the date when Pope Leo XIII formally granted a Canonical Coronation to the image at the Basilica of Our Lady of La Salette.

“On that same day, a day that must be acknowledged as the public and official recognition by the Church of the apparition of La Salette, the Mother of God was also appearing in the little village of Knock, Ireland. In other words, on August 21, 1879, we have Our Lady of Knock gazing in the direction of La Salette and Rome on the exact day, perhaps even the same hour, as the ceremonies recognizing the Apparition of La Salette were occurring.

“If we are looking for messages and meanings in the silent apparition of Knock, here I believe Our Lady could not be clearer. Her appearing on that specific day means she is making a connection with La Salette and its message. She is letting us know that the apparition at Knock must be seen in light of the dire message sent at La Salette.”

“By appearing precisely on that day, she is signifying that the Knock apparition should be seen as part or a development of the La Salette apparition. I see no other possible conclusion. Authentic apparitions of Our Lady are far too rare for this to be a mere coincidence of dates.”

The following is a verbatim quote from the Tradition in Action article, because I believe it is the absolutely essential quote of the whole series. We all must understand this.

“If we try to find a complement for the message of La Salette in the silent symbolism of Knock, we see that the crisis in the Church prophesized in La Salette are confirmed by the presence of St. John, who appeared as a Bishop with a book – probably the Apocalypse – in his hand. This is tantamount to him saying: “The crisis that Our Lady predicted in La Salette, which will make Rome become the seat of the Antichrist and will represent the eclipse of the Church, I also prophesized in the Apocalypse.”

“So, we should understand the crisis as something permitted by God for His final victory and greater glory. For the glory of the Lamb of God, which also appears luminous over the altar in Knock as well as in the Apocalypse. It is something that invites us not to despair, but to trust Our Lady and Our Lord.

“Also the presence of St. Joseph, Protector of the Church, in the Knock apparition sends the message: “No matter how grave the crisis may be, I will continue to protect the Church and lead her to a safe port as I did with the Holy Family. You, the faithful, must have recourse to me and my Most Holy Spouse, the Virgin Mary, in this crisis.” Again, the message is to increase our confidence in the supernatural.

“I believe that these points are valid developments of the message of La Salette, which we must take into consideration given that Our Lady chose to appear in Knock on the precise same day when her apparition of La Salette was being officially recognized by the Church.”

There is much more in the series than I have recapped here, I hope you’ll read it. (Link). Meanwhile, keep in mind that the silent apparition at Knock emphasises the message of La Salette, which Our Lady knew would be silenced by the evil forces already working within the Vatican. It also serves as a prelude to Fatima, as we shall see later on. These evil forces appear to have triumphed now, but we know that in the end, the Immaculate Heart of Mary will triumph as Our Lady of Fatima foretold.

The crisis that Our Lady predicted in La Salette, which will make Rome become the seat of the Antichrist and will represent the eclipse of the Church, St. John also prophesied in the Apocalypse.
